836-B5-750 III Symposium on Business Informatics and Regional Development: A perspective to improve the quality

Objetivo:

To promote a space for dialogue that allows generating new knowledge to the different social actors who are benefited by the Business Informatics career, agents such as teachers, students, community, commerce and local government.

The Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics is one of the most consolidated academic options within the University of Costa Rica, with more than 15 years of existence, it has actively contributed to regional and national development by providing professionals who respond to the needs of the labor market in information and communication technologies both regionally and internationally. Its impact reaches every corner of Costa Rica thanks to the fact that it is offered in all regional campuses and venues in the country. 

In an effort to continually improve quality both in the teaching and work environment, the symposium is a space that allows generating necessary inputs to determine lines of action in the discipline of Business Informatics, in addition, it represents an excellent opportunity to present the results of the investigations carried out by teachers and students in the Business Informatics career at any of the Regional Offices.

This Symposium on Computing and Entrepreneurship was organized by the Western Campus; It was oriented to a reflection on the necessary capacities of the professional in Business Informatics to face the current requirements of the industry and society and how this can have an impact on the local and regional development of each area in which the degree is taught. Also to propose possible changes necessary in the field of teaching to enhance this impact, as well as modifications of a curricular nature and content at the level of courses to achieve it; Lastly, to be a space for the dissemination of related research carried out in all the Regional Offices.

This symposium also included other community agents such as chambers of commerce, associations, cooperatives and other social groups as possible beneficiaries of the Business Informatics major at a local level.
