836-C2-311 The Creole language use’s incident on Afro-Costa Rican people that migrated to the Great Metropolitan Area in the last two decades.

Objetivo:

To investigate the relevance that the Creole language and other ancestral inherited practices have to Afro-Costa Rican people that have migrated to the GMA in the last 25 years, with the purpose of determining if they still maintain them in that new social and geographic context, and why.

Descripción:

This study is designed to dig into the experience lived by the Afro-Costa Rican population that has migrated to the GMA in the last two decades with relation in maintaining (or not) their Creole language. Specifically, it is planned to, through the use of a survey and semi-structured interviews, find the average on how many of these people maintain Limon’s Creole, the contexts in which it is used in this new sociocultural and geographical environment, and the reasons for using it. Furthermore, investigating if they consider the transmission of this language to new generations relevant.
