836-B8-004 Belizean Literature: history, approximations, and main trends

Objetivo:

To analyze the history of Belizean poetry (1950-2015), the main critical approaches and literary trends.

Descripción:

This project aims to address an important gap in Central American literary historiography: the study of poetry produced in Belize. Due to multiple consequences of its history of English colonization, different from that of the other Central American republics, Belize has been largely ignored in the conceptualizations and periodizations of Central American literature. This project aims to investigate the history of Belizean poetry, its different periods and main trends, as well as the initial approaches of criticism, in order to contribute to its integration into the Central American and Caribbean literary scene.
