836-C0-329 Cultural hybridization and formation of ethical awareness in students who attend schools in Guanacaste and San José

Objetivo:

To establish the values that constitute the ethical conscience of students that take part in schools in social contexts that have gone through different degrees of cultural hybridization.

Descripción:

This project addresses the problem of inquiry: Is there a relation between the cultural hybridization that some communities where schools are inserted experience and the formation of the ethical conscience in the students that attend them? Usually, the process of socialization of the people in a family is what is focused on. However, as the scope of the relations in families stops serving as a priority explanatory variable, other institutions of the secondary socialization, as it’s called, gradually gain strength and influence on the performance of the conscience. In this sense, the present study focuses on the entire scholar process. It is about describing the performances of the ethical conscience in students that are in their early years of school, and comparing it with students that are about to abandon it. Additionally, the contexts in which the schools are inserted are compared based on the degree of what we here call cultural hybridization. The theoretical proposal is based on the notion of the ethical consciousness sustained by Erich Fromm's Humanist Psychoanalysis. Different theories related to the expression of values, cultural hybridization, and school years development stages are taken to establish the inquired relation.
