Fabián Dobles was an outstanding Costa Rican novelist, storyteller, and poet (1918- 1997), member of the so called “Generación del 40” (The 40’s Generation) and leftist activist committed to a change in the country’s politics. In their main works “Aguas Turbias” (1942),  “Ese que llaman pueblo” (1943), “Una burbuja en el limbo” (1946), “El sitio de las abras” (1950), “En el San Juan hay tiburón” (1967), “Los años, pequeños días” (1989) stand out.
