836-C0-118 Development opportunities for tourism activity under the value chain approach in the El Paso de las Nubes Biological Corridor (CBPN) in the eastern sector

Objetivo:

To analyze the possibilities of the value chain approach to promote human, social, and economic development of residents and SMEs-tourism in the eastern sector of the biological passage El Paso de las Nubes (CBPN).

Descripción:

The value chain, a concept that has gained notoriety in the last three decades thanks to the studies of the economist Michael Porter, has made markets globalize and contract drastically and, therefore, become more competitive. A value chain is made up of a set of activities, all of them incorporating value into the final product [or service], which begins with its conception, through its production, distribution, and marketing, into its own recollection or recycling after use (Cáceres-Carrasco, Martínez-Román, and Isidoro, 2013). According to these authors, value chains emerge as valuable instruments for the creation, formalization, and enhancement of the product or service. The following generating question should be made in this sense; Is it by means of the value chain methodology, applied to the CBPN sector, that it is capable of bringing together the different tourist enterprises and creating novel tourist products, with the aim of establishing a sustained flow of visitors and solidarity and inclusive economic spillover?

Specifically, the research project aims to map the study area in order to investigate and learn about the different ventures present in the area, subsequently, they are analyzed, diagnosed, and evaluated to establish the quality of each one, and thus determine their current conditions and short and medium term requirements, in order to become an involved and active part of the tourist value chain that could be formed in the eastern sector of the Paso de las Nubes Biological Corridor. To achieve this, it is necessary to make field visits, observations, and information gathering through checklists, field diaries, and interviews with each venture and with the respective SMEs established, all with the aim of relevantly and meaningfully selecting the sites and places suitable for the creation of tourist products, for example, gastronomic routes, tourist circuits, flora and fauna sighting, among others, all linked in a value chain.
